I’m a beginner. Found a backpacking trail near me that said it was “good for beginners”. I made it about 20 minutes up this wrong creek before deciding I was definitely off course.

  • I did the same thing my the first time out. Was walking along what I thought was a really poorly marked trail . Trying to follow the GPS line . Then realize the line was off and I should have been walking down a Forest Road.

    Oh well. ADVENTURE!

  • Horton Creek, AZ. I headed up the immediately adjacent Tonto Creek…which doesn’t have a trail.

  • Stopping and making sure before you carry on can greatly reduce wasted time later on. Glad you’re safe.

  • Well what did we learn? Map? GPS?
