  • Not sure why it’s white. Only thing I could find is [this](https://nagt.org/nagt/teaching_resources/field/fieldtrips/hydro-snakeriver.html) local school’s document which says snake river (which Peru creek flows into) is contaminated by mining activity. Lots of mining activity in the immediate area

  • The white rock may be limestone that was added in the creek to neutralize the acid in the water, raising the pH so metals will precipitate.
